After receiving requests from the Graham Avenue Business Improvement District and the Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Citizens Council (yep, that one) for better sidewalks and safety improvements, DOT presented a plan [PDF] for Bushwick Avenue to Brooklyn Community Board 1's transportation committee last week.

Hynes Brings Manslaughter Charge for Williamsburg Pedestrian Death
A motorist who allegedly struck two pedestrians in a fatal 2012 hit-and-run crash in Williamsburg was charged with manslaughter by Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes.

Felix Coss, of Brooklyn, Third Pedestrian Killed By NYPD in Last 15 Months
A pedestrian crossing the street in a crosswalk with the signal in broad daylight was struck and killed by an on-duty NYPD officer in Williamsburg this weekend, and the department says no traffic laws were broken.

Eyes on the Street: Bike-Share Stations Come to Williamsburg
Citi Bike's rollout to Long Island City, Greenpoint, Williamsburg, and eastern Bedford-Stuyvesant was delayed by damage from Hurricane Sandy. But it looks like bike-share will be establishing a toehold in Williamsburg, with new stations installed in time for the system's launch, now just one week away.

Brooklyn CB 1 Committee OKs West Street Greenway, Borinquen Place Plans
Last night, Brooklyn Community Board 1's transportation committee voted 3-0 in favor of a preliminary design for the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway's first capital project on West Street in Greenpoint, and, in a separate 3-0 vote, endorsed pedestrian safety improvements for Borinquen Place in Williamsburg. These projects will bring major improvements for biking and walking on these two North Brooklyn streets.

Monday: Help “Post Plaza” Take Shape Across the Street From Peter Luger
We've got a heads up for an event early next week. There's a public plaza in the works for the triangle where Bedford Avenue meets Broadway in Brooklyn, right by the Williamsburg Bridge. As you can see, there's currently a lake of asphalt occupying some space that could be doing a whole lot more for the neighborhood than it is now.

Cyclist Reported Killed in 90th Precinct in August, “No Criminality Suspected”
Based on NYPD crash data and a report from Gothamist, an unidentified Williamsburg cyclist struck by a driver this summer died from his injuries.
