DOT Is Getting Serious About Protected Bike Lanes for 4th Avenue
DOT will present a redesign for Brooklyn's 4th Avenue with protected bike lanes from 65th Street to Dean Street. It's an important shift from earlier plans that called for casting the current street design in concrete without adding bike infrastructure.

Decline in NYC Bus Ridership Concentrated in Manhattan and Brooklyn
New Yorkers have been giving up on the bus, with a 16 percent drop in ridership between 2002 and 2015. An analysis of each borough by Eric Goldwyn shows the bus ridership decline has been concentrated in Manhattan and Brooklyn. There may be several factors at work, but worsening traffic congestion is almost certainly a culprit.

Family of Lauren Davis Asks CB 3 to Support Classon Ave Bike Lane
Davis was biking on Classon in the direction of traffic on the morning of April 15 when a left-turning driver in a Fiat struck and killed her. Her sister Danielle launched an online petition urging community boards 2 and 3 and local council members Laurie Cumbo and Robert Cornegy, Jr. to support a bike lane on Classon, and almost 6,000 people have signed on.

Bike-Share Already Getting More Use Than Park Slope’s Free Parking Spots
The new bike-share stations in Brooklyn south of Atlantic Avenue are getting a lot more use than your average free on-street parking space, according to recent Citi Bike data compiled by Carroll Gardens resident Viktor Geller [PDF]. Geller addressed the report to Brooklyn Community Board 6, which is holding a hearing on Thursday in response to complaints about bike-share stations replacing curbside car parking.
